FUN trip to Round Top Antique Fair last week!
I had driven to Round Top by myself last fall and was overwhelmed with ALL the miles of shops, tents & fields of antiques & junk. This year I opted for a scenic trek from where I live on a coach bus with a group of kindred spirits. Was wonderful to enjoy the surroundings without having to deal with traffic or parking. Being I had done the Big Red Barn last year, I decided to scout around Warrenton this trip.
FABULOUS! I covered as much ground as I could in about 4 hours. Was great to have under carriage cargo space on the bus to put everything. Here are just a few favs and my purchases, most of which will stay here in my Texas house. Next spring I will be shopping for Checkered Corner. Can’t wait!
The time is here to trek to Texas for the winter months. I’m looking forward to spending some of the time there formulating a plan for next steps for Checkered Corner in a new season in 2024. |
Life has been quite a blur this year already and the action continues. After selling our home in Colorado last fall, we enjoyed our first winter in the Hill Country of Texas. Scurried back to Wisconsin to open up at the lake for Spring and then we set off on a magical trip to Ireland for a few weeks mid April. Arrived back to weather that allowed us to plunk the dock and pontoon in the water. Another dash back to Texas early May as we were planning to pick a lot to build in the development we were renting. Instead of a building adventure however we are beyond blessed to have a new finished house in the same floor plan become available. We snapped it up and closed May 12th. Another quick trip back to the lake to celebrate my Mom's 98th birthday. AMAZING! and such fun. We drove my pickup back to Texas with a stop in Oklahoma to have great laughs with some Murray clan. NOW the moving begins. Thankfully we have the month of June to move literally around the corner so taking it a day at a time.
ALL of this activity, wonderful! as it is, has put my Checkered Corner world on hold. Without time to focus on finding a new spot to rent in Wisconsin or getting in my usual create mode brings a continued pause for the business . . .
Stay well and enjoy the summer months. anita
LOVED not having any snow to deal with for the winter. Strange to decorate with snowflakes in the yard and still blooming mums.
